TOUR PERFORMANCES
Performances run May through October only. They being at 9:30 in the morning and end around 6 p.m. with intermissions and a break for lunch. There are a limited number of seats for each performance, and this entire event sells out very quickly.

We believe that starting in 2007 you will be able to begin holding space for Oberammergau 2010 tours. In 2000 we were even listed in USA Today for our extensive selection of Passion Play Packages. Don’t miss this once in a lifetime event. It is important that groups put in their requests early to be given priority when tickets become available, so please email your information in as soon as possible.

About Oberammergau

The Passion Play is performed every 10 years in the city of Oberammergau, Germany. In the midst of the horror of the 30 years’ war, the dreaded plague swept across Europe. High in the Bavarian Alps, the citizens of Oberammergau attempted to seal themselves off from the outside world. When a homesick young man sneaked into the village and brought the pestilence with him, 84 residents died within 3 weeks.

In desperation, the town council made a solemn vow that if God would stop the plague, out of gratitude, they would present a play depicting the life and suffering of Christ for the duration of their existence. Miraculously, the plague took no more lives in the town. True to their word, the villagers performed their first play in 1634, and have continued to do so to this day.
